The Big Ten released the availability report for Rutgers against Boston University per the new league rules three hours before tip-off at 4:00 p.m. ET. Note that this is not an injury report and no reasons are given for a player’s status. Head Coach Steve Pikiell will likely be asked about certain players following game. Here is the report for Rutgers and some quick thoughts.
Rutgers basketball availability report vs. Boston University
OUT
Questionable
Quick Take
Mawot Mag being listed as questionable isn’t surprising as he has been a full go in practice for a few weeks. Rutgers has wisely been methodical in working Mag back into the fold following a torn ACL nine months ago. Steve Pikiell said following the Princeton game that “Mawot (Mag) will tell people when he’s ready. He’s been practicing, so it’s on him. He will only play when he’s 100 percent. I don’t know when that is.”
While it’s possible he plays in this game, my guess is he is still a few games away.
Emmanuel Ogbole also suffered a torn ACL playing for Monroe Junior College last March. He is not as far along as Mag is in his recovery. If he can make a contribution this season and is able to spell Cliff Omoruyi at times, the athletic Ogbole would provide a lift for RU.
Jeremiah Williams isn’t listed but remains ineligible as the NCAA hasn’t ruled on his waiver status yet.
Here are three keys for Rutgers against BU in its home season opener on Friday night.
