Episode No. 90 focuses on plenty of recruiting news for Rutgers football and men’s basketball.
This past weekend, football received four verbal commitments in the class of 2024. Rutgers landed three defensive recruits on Saturday. The next day, 3-star receiver Benjamin Black committed and he is bringing elite speed and athleticism to the program. In addition, Maine transfer tight end Shawn Bowman committed and could be a big contributor next season. I discuss all five commits as well as the current 2024 rankings, the offensive personnel in the pass game for next season and more.
Basketball just signed JUCO bigman Emmanuel Ogbole on Monday. He is a 6’10” big man from Aune-Adoka, Nigeria who played In 24 games last season for Monroe College in the Bronx, Ogbole averaged 12.3 points while shooting 69.3% from the floor. He also grabbed 8.2 rebounds and swatted 2.1 blocks per contest. Monroe went 29-5 last season and Ogbole was second in scoring while leading them on the boards and with block shots. He’s only been playing since he was 18 years old, but has a lot of potential which I discuss in the episode.
Steve Pikiell and the staff still need to find at least one guard out of the portal who can be a contributor in the rotation next season. I discuss skill sets as well as he strong possibility the program will land a commitment from 4-star win Bryce Dortch on Tuesday. I also discuss Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper playing together at U19 training camp for USA Basketball.
There was a lot to cover and this overview doesn’t include a lot of what I did discuss. Please listen or watch to this episode below. Thank you!
