
To answer your subject line question, I think it’s a long rope. I understand your frustrations for sure. It’s hard to have confidence year four this fall will be significantly better. That being said, I don’t see Rutgers or Schiano making a move to part ways any time soon. The $4 million annual salary is not something I can think Schiano would just walk away from without serious deal being made that favors himself. I also think Rutgers isn’t in a great spot to get rid of him and pay multiple years of his salary. I don’t think the “war chest” is going to change much anytime soon. The Big Ten is owed loans given to Rutgers and the optics with the athletic department running so much in the red year after year. I don’t have confidence that Rutgers would pay Schiano millions of dollars to no longer coach and also properly pay a new coach.
