Rutgers commit Ace Bailey and Rutgers priority target Dylan Harper will be on the same court once again on Saturday. This time it will be in the famous Rucker Park in New York City as part of the Slam Summer Classic. Some of the greatest players in basketball history have played on that court. The showcase should be packed as the game features elite high school prospects across multiple classes.
They played last weekend together at the Under Armour Elite 24 game in Atlanta. They also were part of the prestigious Curry Camp that recently took place. Bailey took home MVP honors.
Harper is currently the No. 2 recruit in the 2024 class with Bailey at No. 3. With Bailey, 4-star big man Lathan Sommerville and 4-star wing Bryce Dortch all committed to Rutgers, its 2024 class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally. With the potential addition of Harper, which all national projections point to happening, head coach Steve Pikiell is on the cusp of landing a historic recruiting haul for the program.
Bailey has all the physical tools of an elite basketball player. His development as a complete player in recent months has had national recruiting analysts raving about his game. Ace’s willingness to rebound, defend the rim and find open teammates with good passing vision paired with his athleticism and shot making ability make him an elite play. Harper is a poised, skilled guard who can score at all three levels, is an efficient distributor, and has great feel for the game.
Rutgers fans continue to hope that the pair will roam the RAC in a Scarlet Knights uniform during the 2024-2025 season. On Thursday, the national podcast Sleepers expressed legitimate excitement about that possibility and what the ceiling could be for that Rutgers team.
