Following a standout 2023 season, Rutgers senior third baseman Payton Lincavage was named a Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner. She was recognized as the best defensive third baseman in the nation by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

On Tuesday, Lincavage received the well earned hardware. Head coach Kristen Butler presented the Gold Glove to her in front of her teammates.

Lincavage earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors last season for Rutgers. She made just one error on 130 chances over 57 games. In addition, Lincavage held a .992 fielding percentage and was involved in six of RU’s 23 double plays. She was a big reason why Rutgers finished second in the Big Ten with a .976 fielding percentage. Lincavage also led Rutgers in home runs, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS. She was also second on the team with a .303 batting average and 48 runs scored.

The grad student is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and enters her final season of eligibility.

Rutgers earned the program’s most wins in a season since 1994 with a record of 32-25 overall. The Scarlet Knights also earned the program’s first ranked win since 2012 in defeating No. 18/19 Northwestern at home in May. The Wildcats were also the Big Ten regular season champions.

RU will play a brief fall season in October against Seton Hall, Villanova, LIU, Delaware and Saint Peter’s. More information is here and admission is free.

The program is looking to take another step forward in 2024 and Lincavage will be leading the way once again for the Scarlet Knights.
