Episode No. 69 of The Scarlet Faithful podcast focuses on the best transfers that Rutgers football has added since Greg Schiano returned as head coach prior to the 2020 season.
Tasked with rebuilding the program a second time, Schiano has done a good job of utilizing the transfer portal since his return.
One note is that I did not include transfers who joined the program before Schiano was head coach. This rules out to impactful transfers in Johnny Langan and Tre Avery.
Transfers who I did not include in the top ten but touched were
Langan and Tre Avery not eligible were Jovani Haskins, Matt Alaimo, Curtis Dunlap, Willie Tyler, Mike Ciaffone, and Brendon White. Transfers like Dunlap and Ciaffone are still on the current roster and could move into the top ten eventually. White was very good for Rutgers, but played in only five games in the 2020 season, so he missed the cut.
There have been a lot of impactful transfers during Schiano 2.0. On offense, I included Sean Ryan, Noah Vedral, JD DiRenzo, Ireland Brown and Aron Cruickshank. On the defensive side of the ball, I included Christian Braswell, Mayan Ahanotu, Aaron Lewis, Ifeanyi Maijeh and Michael Dwumfour.
Listen or watch the episode below to find out how I ultimately ranked those players in the top ten list for best transfers in Schiano 2.0 so far.
A reminder that The Scarlet Faithful podcast is now daily and appreciate everyone tuning in as much as you have already in just our first week.

More justification for Rutgers to focus on the transfer portal for a 2023 QB. Langan and Vedral are arguably the most productive Schiano 2.0 QBs, unreasonable to hold OCs accountable for poor performance when dealing with project recruit QBs.
