The Rutgers women’s soccer 2023 season officially kicks off on August 17 at home against Holy Cross. Despite a disappointing end to last season, RU finished No. 29 in the RPI rankings and advanced to a 10th straight NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Mike O’Neill’s veteran team returns many contributors from last season including ten starters. Rutgers welcomes back its top seven points leaders from last season. In addition, three-time First Team All-Big East forward Gia Vicari has transferred into the program from Georgetown.

Given last year’s late season disappointment, a new GK for this season, and a few key preseason injuries, I guess a wait & see attitude is best. Nevertheless, past successes suggest future success under this HC. This should be another interesting season.
