Rutgers athletics, the university and its alumni, supporters and fans are all on a journey together. Being a Big Ten member for almost a decade has brought plenty of change. Some good, some bad with mixed results as well.

Now things are starting to feel different in a positive way.

It’s great news that the Knight Society is collaborating with Knights of the Raritan to hold KnightFest for Rutgers men’s basketball. It’s an example of two different organizations working together to accomplish the same goal. And that goal is to benefit the student-athletes and connect them with fans through experiences.

The more aligned that every entity inside, outside and around Rutgers can work together will only help the future for the university, athletic department and the community.

Rallying behind positive things that occur, whether it’s a specific interest or not, helps the long term mission of building the future for Rutgers.

There is legitimate hope with Rutgers football right now. The field hockey team is off to its best start with a 10-0 record. There are many programs on the rise or already having lifted up since joining the Big Ten.

Rutgers is better positioned in the Big Ten than ever before. Recruiting is trending up in multiple sports, several new facilities are top notch with more needed, and the revenue from the Big Ten are rapidly increasing.

There are multiple reasons to be positive about the future of Rutgers. Being aligned together is very important to that and the focus on Friday’s podcast episode.

As Rutgers works to improve its Big Ten profile in the long term, having multiple entities partnering to accomplish the same goals is a key to future success.
