Episode No. 110: Breaking down the ...

The Scarlet Knights will now host Northwestern for the 2023 season opener on Sunday, September 3. The game is set for a noon kickoff and will air live on CBS. It’s a big deal for Rutgers to begin the season in a nationally televised game. It’s also occurring on a day when only a few college games are taking place and before the NFL season begins. Opening the Big Ten schedule in this situation is a tremendous showcase opportunity for the program.

In addition, Rutgers will host Temple the following Saturday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.

On Saturday, September 16 Virginia Tech will take on Rutgers at 3:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.

The first road game of the season is at Michigan on Saturday, September 23. Kickoff is now set for noon ET with the network to be determined.

Three additional games had kickoff times announced, all taking place in October. Rutgers will play at Wisconsin on Saturday, October 7 at either 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. ET. I like that the opening three games provides a nice blend for us tailgaters. I’ll get to do a breakfast, lunch, and a dinner. My wife will hate the 3:30 start vs. VA Tech as it will take up practically the entire day, but having a night game the week before vs. Temple will ne nice especially if RU pulls one out against NW on C…B…S! Go RU!
