The Scarlet Faithful Game Week Coverage
Get ready leading up to kickoff for Rutgers vs. Michigan State with all of our coverage from this week.
The availability report for both teams was released at 10:00 a.m. ET (2 hours before kickoff). My quick thoughts are posted here.
I’ll also link a post for live commentary and reader comments throughout the Rutgers-Michigan State game before kickoff here.
This game could very well mark the beginning of a seminal moment in the second tenure of Greg Schiano at Rutgers.
I made four predictions for Rutgers vs. Wisconsin including what I think will ultimately happen in the game.
David Anderson joined The Scarlet Faithful podcast once again for keys to victory against Wisconsin. Another football related podcast was on believing in quarterback Gavin Wimsatt’s development long term.
I collaborated with the Michigan State site Spartan Shadow s for a Q&A with founder Connor Muldowney here. In addition, I also answered Connor’s questions on Rutgers football here.
Speaking of Michigan State, they’re expected make a change at quarterback. Greg Schiano spoke about how Rutgers is preparing for the potential switch under center. Schiano also spoke this week about Rutgers not being there “yet”, but being close to turning the corner. He also spoke about the status of running back Sam Brown and the hope he will be a bigger factor this season very soon.
Mo Toure has the highest grade of any linebacker in the Big Ten per Pro Football Focus. He was included on the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List this week.
Saturday is a massive opportunity for this program to take another positive step forward this season. To move up the Big Ten standings and improve league wide perception, beating Michigan State is a must. It also gets you one more victory away from becoming bowl eligible. However, showing up doesn’t guarantee anything. Let’s hope this team comes through in what is always a battle in the Big Ten. A lot is riding on this game for Rutgers football and it’s an exciting time.
It’s also a big weekend for Rutgers men’s basketball recruiting this homecoming weekend, which is the subject of The Scarlet Faithful podcast on Friday.
