NFL training camps are now underway and undrafted rookie Aron Cruickshank stood out in a big way on Wednesday. The former Rutgers wide receiver made a tremendous one handed catch falling down in the end zone. The red zone drill perfectly highlighted Cruickshank’s ability to make plays in tight space and not just rely on his speed in the open field.

Aron Cruickshank signed with the Chicago Bears. After playing two seasons with Wisconsin, Cruickshank was named the Big Ten Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year in 2020 in his first of three seasons at Rutgers. The two-time All-Big Ten returner scored three special teams touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and five receiving touchdowns. Cruickshank finished with 2,598 all-purpose yards in his three seasons including 1,357 kick return yards and 868 receiving yards. His development as a wide receiver was slowed but not impeded by a season ending injury during the 2021 season. Cruickshank had a career high and team high 42 receptions last season. He averaged 3.5 catches per game and averaged 9.2 yards per reception as a senior for RU.
The odds are against Cruickshank as an undrafted free agent to ultimately make the Bears roster. However, if Cruickshank continues to make plays when the opportunities present themselves, he will have a real chance to do just that.
The most Bears training camp tweet of Bears training camp tweets:
Undrafted rookie wide receiver Aron Cruickshank made a one-handed, diving catch in the corner of the end zone during one-on-one, red-zone drills. Very impressive.
