Rutgers men’s basketball continues to work towards adding to the roster for next season. With just ten players, three scholarships remain open.

Episode No. 112 focuses on the portal possibilities that  Rutgers is currently exploring.

Austin Williams is a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining. He visited recently and the 6’4″, 200 pound guard appears to be a good fit on paper for what Rutgers needs on next season’s roster. He is a bigger guard with experience who can create off the dribble and is effective in playing through contact. Williams is a good rebounding guard who is unselfish and shares the basketball.

While Austin Williams hasn’t announced his decision for next season, Rutgers does appear to be in a strong position to ultimately land the New Jersey native.

In addition, Rutgers is also pursuing transfer guard Jeremiah Williams. It was first reported by 24/7 High School Sports that transfer guard Jeremiah Williams is set to visit the program on July 24.

Both Austin and Jeremiah Williams missed last season due to injuries. However, both appear to be worth taking a chance on, especially this late in the offseason. Each has upside in areas that Rutgers needs help with.

In the episode, I discuss the waiver options needed for both players, the difference in their situations and why it makes sense to potentially take both of them.

A full current roster review is part of this episode as well. Discussing the depth of the backcourt and frontcourt, developmental needs and more.
