Anytime a program can earn a surprise recruit, especially with the offers that Kevin Levy has, it’s a sign that recruiting is in a positive place. That’s what happened on Saturday, as the high 3-star two player from Florida committed to Rutgers.

Levy is a 6’0″, 170 pound wide receiver and defensive back who plays for Cardinal Newman from West Palm Beach, Florida. He has a composite grade of 0.8852 and composite ranking of No. 73 recruit in Florida, No. 48 athlete nationally and No. 533 overall prospect in the class of 2024 per 247 Sports. His highest rating from an individual recruiting service is On3, who rate Levy a 4-star prospect that is ranked the No. 27 recruit in Florida, No. 21 defensive back nationally and No. 177 overall prospect in the 2024 class.

The speedy Levy made official visits in June to Rutgers, Louisville and Florida State. He also included Illinois and Kentucky in his final five after holding 15 power five offers in total. Those included Florida, Miami, Arkansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Texas A&M, Pitt, NC State, Boston College, and Indiana. Levy was projected to go to either Louisville or Florida State by most recruiting analysts. Levy took multiple visits to FSU and his high school teammate Ricky Knight III is committed to the Seminoles. Rutgers ultimately earning his commitment is a tremendous recruiting win for the staff in the 2024 cycle.

In his junior season for Cardinal Newman, Levy had 19 catches for 304 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns along with 16.0 yards per reception. On the defensive side, he had 23 tackles and 3 pass deflections. Levy is teammates with high 3-star cornerback prospect Josh Philostin, who is also a priority target for Rutgers.

Levy brings elite speed to Piscataway. “A two-way perimeter playmaker with track speed,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins told Brian Dohn in regard to Levy. “Younger for his grade. Captured a state title in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore and owns nine sub 11-second efforts in the race, including a personal-best 10.62 in spikes.”

He also brings value in his versatility in being able to play multiple positions. Levy could ultimately end up at wide receiver, cornerback and safety at Rutgers. His physicality, anticipation skills, disruptiveness and speed project Levy on the defensive side of the ball. He has the potential to become a major contributor and multi-year starter for the Scarlet Knights.

Greg Schiano and the staff now have six commits from Florida in the 2024 class. Levy is the highest rated in the state of the six and joins linebacker Sam Robinson as Top 100 prospects from the Sunshine State. The other commits from Florida include defensive linemen Tycoolhill and Tyclean Luman, safety Dahkari Gilley and offensive lineman Raynor Andrews.

Following the commitment of Levy, the Rutgers class of 2024 is currently ranked by 247 Sports composite rankings No. 31 nationally and No. 10 in the Big Ten. There are two 4-star commits and 20 3-star commits per the composite rankings.

It never ceases to amaze me whenever Aaron publishes an article on a commitment from FL just how much talent there is in the Sunshine State. Levy is the 73 rated player in the state and has so many high major offers. Incredible. Go RU!
