Rutgers football added its second commitment of the day on Sunday as 3-star offensive tackle Carter Kadow announced his plans to become a Scarlet Knight. Kadow made the decision after competing at Rutgers’ Big Man Camp and earning an offer this past weekend.

The 6’6″, 260 pounder from Middleton, Wisconsin is rated a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports with an 86 grade. He is ranked the No. 12 prospect in Wisconsin and No. 88 offensive tackle nationally in the 2024 class.

Kadow holds offers from Indiana and several MAC schools in addition to Ivy and Patriot League schools. He did have interest from Minnesota and Penn State. After visiting Indiana on June 16, Kadow ultimately chose Rutgers.

One reason Kadow could be considered underrated and underrecruited down the road is that he has primarily been a tight end in his high school career. He is converting to offensive tackle full-time for his senior season and is where he projects to play at Rutgers.

He is the third offensive lineman in Rutgers’ 2024 class, joining Raynor Andrews and Kenny Jones. This is obviously a position of need for the program. Offensive line coach Pat Flaherty is an experienced teacher and obviously sees a lot of potential in Kadow.

Kadow is also a current teammate of Rutgers commit 3-star linebacker Sam Pilof and Middleton high school.

Rutgers has had a busy week in landing six commitments over the past few days.  The Scarlet Knights have received pledges from 3-star safety Noah Shaw, 3-star linebacker Samarian Robinson, 3-star EDGE Elijah King, 3-star athlete Antonio White, 3-star athlete Sage Clawges who is reclassifying to 2023 and now Kadow.

With 19 commitments currently, the class is now ranked No. 21 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten per 247 Sports composite rankings. With spots in the 2024 class now at a premium, it will be interesting to see how the staff plans to finish out this recruiting cycle in the coming months.

Getting at least three on the OL was something that RU really needed. Realistically, you hope that two of them work out and end up in the rotation in a couple of seasons and then as starters after that. Almost immediately before I read Aaron’s line about wondering how selective RU will become at this point I was thinking the same thing. My hope is that a few four stars can be had and that GS will emerge with a top 30-35 class. Go RU!

Yes, shaping up as a top 25 class. The question is can they put enough points on the board to win this year?
