Rutgers football has landed a commitment for a second straight day as 3-star athlete Noah Shaw pledged to the program. He took an official visit to Piscataway on June 2 and ultimately chose to become a Scarlet Knight.

Shaw is ranked No. 38 prospect in North Carolina, No. 142 athlete in the class of 2024 and No. 1306 overall in the country. He holds offers from Duke, Missouri, Vanderbilt, East Carolina, Appalachian State, Tulane, Liberty and UConn among others. Shaw took additional official visits to Duke and East Carolina after visiting Rutgers. However, it didn’t sway his decision to ultimately join Greg Schiano’s program.
Despite being rated as an athlete by recruiting services, Shaw has been primarily a linebacker and safety throughout his high school career. Per MaxPreps, Shaw had 115 tackles, 82 solo, along with 3.0 sacks, 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries in 11 games for Asheville high school as a junior in 2022.
His versatility and speed make Shaw a quality addition for Rutgers. Per Todderick Hunt of NJ Advance Media, “Shaw runs a 4.47-second 40-yard dash, a 4.43-second shuttle, bench presses 275 pounds, runs 100-meters in 11 seconds-flat, and has a 38.5-inch vertical leap. His ability to play multiple positions for the defense gives the coaching staff a useful prospect to develop.
The 6’2”, 195 pounder from Asheville, North Carolina is the third commitment from the Tarheel state for Rutgers. He joins receivers Isaiah Crumpler and Benjamin Black. Shaw’s father, Randy, played cornerback for Western Carolina from 1998-2001.
Adding Shaw comes one day after flipping Samarian Robinson, a 3-star linebacker previously committed to UCF. Later on Thursday, 3-star EDGE Elijah King committed as well. With 17 commitments currently, the class is remains ranked No. 27 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten per 247 Sports composite rankings.
