Rutgers landed its second commitment of the day on Thursday as 3-star EDGE Elijah King pledged to the program.
The 6’6″, 230 pound King is from Columbus, Ohio and plays for Gahanna Lincoln high school. He is ranked the No. 38 prospect in Ohio, the No. 63 EDGE in the country and No. 930 overall in the 2024 recruiting class.
King holds offers from Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, West Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati and others. He took official visits to Rutgers and Purdue before deciding to become a Scarlet Knight. An official visit to Indiana was scheduled for this weekend but King has cancelled after his commitment to RU.
You can never have enough EDGE rushers on defense. King is a quality pickup for Rutgers and joins defensive line commits Aaris Bethea as well as Tycoolhill and Tyclean Luman from Florida.
Rutgers has now added both 3-star athlete Noah Shaw and King one day after flipping Samarian Robinson, a 3-star linebacker previously committed to UCF.
The 2024 class continues to expand its footprint as Rutgers has commitments from prospects in eight different states. With 17 commitments currently, the class is remains ranked No. 27 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten per 247 Sports composite rankings.
