Episode No. 97 of The Scarlet Faithful podcast discusses Thursday’s commitments of 3-star athlete Noah Shaw and 3-star EDGE Elijah King for Rutgers football. Both had other official visits to power five programs but ultimately decided to become Scarlet Knights.

Shaw is ranked No. 38 prospect in North Carolina, No. 142 athlete in the class of 2024 and No. 1306 overall in the country. He holds offers from Duke, Missouri, Vanderbilt, East Carolina, Appalachian State, Tulane, Liberty and UConn among others. Shaw took additional official visits to Duke and East Carolina after visiting Rutgers. However, it didn’t sway his decision to ultimately join Greg Schiano’s program.

The 6’6″, 230 pound King is from Columbus, Ohio and plays for Gahanna Lincoln high school. He is ranked the No. 38 prospect in Ohio, the No. 63 EDGE in the country and No. 930 overall in the 2024 recruiting class. King holds offers from Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, West Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati and others. He took official visits to Rutgers and Purdue before deciding to become a Scarlet Knight. An official visit to Indiana was scheduled for this weekend but King has cancelled after his commitment to RU.

Further discussion includes an overview of where the 2024 class as it stands today, the geographical footprint continuing to expand, the signs of progress for the program as a whole, the importance of September next season and much more.
