Rutgers cornerback Christian Braswell was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. In his lone season at Rutgers, Braswell led the team with 11 pass breakups and three interceptions. He ranked third in the Big Ten with 1.17 passes defended per game. Braswell had 37 tackles as well as a blocked punt last season. Highlights included a game sealing interception he ran back for a touchdown against Indiana as well as four pass break ups in his last game against Maryland.
Braswell was a Big Ten Honorable Mention Selection by the Media and played in the Hula Bowl. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
He began his career at Temple where he played 30 games over three seasons.
Last year, Rutgers had wide receiver Bo Melton (seventh round, Seattle Seahawks) and running back Isaih Pacheco (seventh round, Kansas City Chiefs) taken in the NFL Draft. There is hope that more Scarlet Knights will hear their name called before the end of Saturday. Stay tuned!
Here are highlights of Braswell at Rutgers from last season. Best of luck to him in his NFL career!
