After taking an official visit to Rutgers last weekend, 4-star athlete Willy Love announced his final seven schools on Wednesday afternoon.

In considering his final seven of Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights should be considered the leader for Love.

While he has taken multiple unofficial visits to RU, Penn State and Syracuse during his recruitment, his only official trip so far was to Piscataway. Love has previously indicated he wants to take more official visits. However, the timing so far has been good for Greg Schiano and the staff.

Last month, national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn made a crystal ball prediction for Willy Love to ultimately land at Rutgers. Schiano was one of the first coach’s to offer Love back in January 2022.

The 6’2″ safety from Camden holds over a dozen power five offers. They include Georgia, Penn State, Oregon, Ole Miss, Pitt, Michigan State and Texas A&M. He also has taken an unofficial visit to Florida State. In addition, On3 predicts Love to Rutgers with 89.9% confidence.

While Love plays wide receiver and safety, he is ranked a top five recruit in New Jersey listed as an athlete. The 247 Sports composite rankings lists Love as the No. 5 recruit in New Jersey, No. 27 athlete nationally and the No. 317 prospect overall.

The 2024 class is critical for the program to take a step forward in the future. It’s been a productive two weeks for Rutgers in landing seven commitments after two busy weekends of official visits. The staff has done a good job of expanding the reach of the program on the recruiting trail.

247 Sports composite rankings currently lists Rutgers as the No. 24 class overall and No. 7 in the Big Ten. However, this class needs to add a handful of 4-star recruits to finish even close to where it’s ranked currently. Keeping a local talent who has multiple power five offers like Love home would be an important victory. No word on his timeline for a decision so stay tuned.

Hey Willie! One of the top 30 universities in the US has offered you a “free ride”. OK if you pick another school… you have that choice. But what will it mean 30 years from now when fb is far behind n the rear view mirror?
