Welcome to episode No. 65 of The Scarlet Faithful podcast. We continue to focus on the very busy offseason for Rutgers men’s basketball.

As April comes to a close, the roster for next season remains a work in progress. The 2023 recruiting class, the transfer portal and decisions from players currently involved in the NBA Draft evaluation process will all determine how next season’s team is ultimately formed.

On Thursday, 4-star recruit Baye Ndongo decommitted after a couple weeks of speculation following the departure of his lead recruiter Karl Hobbs. How head coach Steve Pikiell replaces Ndongo on the roster for next season remains to be seen. It’s seems logical that Rutgers will attack the transfer portal to add talent and depth in the frontcourt.

In addition, there was a report this week that Rutgers is pursuing 5-star Mackenzie Mgbako. 4-star big man Papa Kante is back on the market but is he now an option for RU? At the same time, speculation and doubt on whether Cliff Omoruyi will return increases.

On this episode, I break down the current roster, examine decisions to be made, consider potential additions and more. Of course, all of this is done with the hope and excitement with the class of 2024 continuing to build major momentum for Rutgers. And with the nature of college basketball recruiting currently, things are changing not only daily, but by the hour. We try to catch you up here.
