Episode No, 91 is my rapid reaction to 4-star wing Bryce Dortch committing to Rutgers men’s basketball on Tuesday afternoon. The 6’8” two-way player brings versatility and athleticism to the program.
Dortch is 6’8” wing from the Boston area where he attends Brimmer and May school in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He is currently listed as the No. 108 overall prospect and No. 25 power forward and in the 2024 class per the 247 Sports composite rankings. The service also ranks Dortch as No. 4 in Massachusetts. In addition, the long, athletic two-way recruit is ranked No. 4 in Massachusetts and No. 5 in New England by the New England Recruiting Report (NERR).
His offer list includes Marquette, Texas A&M, Xavier, Seton Hall, Providence, Virginia Tech, VCU, Temple and UMass among others. He took official visits to Marquette and then Rutgers, which was less than two weeks ago. Dortch visited both schools last fall as well. He ultimately had a final three schools that included RU, Virginia Tech and Temple.
This is how a stable, winning program operates. Setbacks and losses happen in recruiting. Having backup plans that are not only doable but also desirable is not an easy thing to accomplish. The Rutgers coaching staff has continued to respond to adversity this offseason with high end additions. This is a long term plan in action.
You can watch and listen to my take on the following below: What Dortch brings to the program, how his addition along with Emmanuel Ogbole this week were not by accident, how the program continues to upgrade the talent level on the offensive side of the ball, the ceiling and balance of the 2024 recruiting class, the improved athleticism of the roster now and beyond plus much more.

Can’t argue against the idea that this another athletic addition that adds to the balance of this class. Rutgers just needs the cherry on top now to complete the ’24 class.

Tremendous pick up by Coach and team. This is already the best class of recruits ever.

Seems like a high quality recruit! Props to Pike, et al, for staying with him!
