One day after receiving a commitment from high 3-star wide receiver Isaiah Crumpler, Rutgers made the top four finalists being considered by Caden Brown, a high 3-star Edge from Brooklyn, New York.

Brown is a 6-3, 250-pounder who plays for Erasmus Hall, a school with strong ties to Rutgers. He holds double digit power five offers including Nebraska, West Virginia, Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Pitt. His father, Alban Brown, played linebacker at Syracuse in late 1980s and offered. However, the No. 2 player ranked in New York state dropped the list of schools he is considering to four on Saturday. All are Big Ten teams with Penn State, Maryland, Michigan State and Rutgers.

He recently visited PSU in March. However, the good news is that Brown has an official visit set for Rutgers on June 9. On3 gives Brown a 4-star ranking and based on his film, he looks the part.

Brown comes off the edge with a combination of speed and power who can get to the quarterback or stop the run. As he adds muscle to his big frame, he’s only going to get better. He plays with a high motor and is a sure tackler. Brown doesn’t give on the play and can fight through blocks. His potential is very high and would be a great addition for Rutgers if they can win the recruiting battle for him.

Erasmus Hall alums currently on the Rutgers roster are defensive back Kessawn Abraham and linebacker Moses Walker. Last week, three of the six Rutgers players to sign undrafted free agent deals with NFL teams had played together at Erasmus Hall. They are Aron Cruickshank, Christian Izien, and Sean Ryan. There have been a lot of successful players at RU who came into the program having played for the Brooklyn school, which has been a longtime scholastic powerhouse. Getting Brown would likely add to that tradition.

Rutgers currently has eight commitments in the 2024 recruiting class. RU is now ranked No. 26 nationally by 247 Sports.
