Rutgers desperately needs playmakers at wide receiver and the program added one on Friday with a strong background. High 3-star receiver Isaiah Crumpler from Greenville, North Carolina committed soon after visiting the program during last weekend’s Scarlet-White Game.

In 11 games last season as a junior, Crumpler had 55 receptions for 614 yards and 5 touchdowns for D. H. Conley high school. He also rushed 23 times for 137 yards, a 6.0 yard per carry average. Crumpler also played safety, but is projected to play receiver at Rutgers. The 6’0″, 185 pound prospect also plays high school basketball and runs track.

Duke and East Carolina were his only other notable offers. Crumpler is ranked the No. 16 recruit in North Carolina, No. 78 wide receiver and No. 568 prospect nationally in the 2024 class per 247 Sports composite rankings.

He is a speedy, sure handed receiver with burst and ability to accelerate in open space. Assistant coach Dave Brock has plenty of experience in unlocking a players potential. Crumpler has the skills to succeed at the next level and gives Rutgers some much needed speed in the passing game.

Crumpler is the son of East Carolina legend and former NFL tight end Carlester Crumpler Sr.. He’s also brothers of Carlester Crumpler Jr. and Alge Crumpler, both of whom played tight end in the NFL as well. Alge caught 373 catches for 4,743 yards and 39 touchdowns in his pro career. In addition, he made the Pro Bowl four times. His father and brothers are between 6’2” and 6’5″, so Isaiah could get taller before even arriving at Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights now have eight verbal commitments in the class of 2024. This includes high 3 star QB AJ Surace, who could form a dangerous duo with Crumpler in the years to come. The 2024 recruiting class is now ranked No. 26 nationally and No. 8 in the Big Ten per 247 Sports composite rankings.
