Episode No. 76 continues the discussion regarding Cam Spencer leaving Rutgers men’s basketball so unexpectedly.

This episode discusses the fallout from Cam Spencer’s departure, the real reason he left amidst conspiracy theories, how Steve Pikiell has proven he can adjust to changes and that there should be confidence that he will do it again in reshaping next season’s roster.

Note this episode was recorded before both the news of an assistant coaching hire and scheduling report came out.

Adam, I share your enthusiasm for Pike’s ability to adapt and build success. He’s proven he can get the job done. He is on the verge of becoming a legend at RU.

Re Spencer: you sound confident that the reason for leaving is $$$. It begs to questions: what is your source for such a high level of assurance: someone inside the mbb office; someone inside Cam’s inner circle of advisors, or someone else? Two: was Cam poached before he entered the portal (or else why is he so sure he can get more $$$?).

I hope Pike didn’t counter. That would set a VERY dangerous precedent and could lead to “blackmail” by other players.

I’m not as confident of the value and contributions of the incoming players. We’ve been burned in the past (e.g., Kiss, Miller, et al.). I don’t believe we’ll fall apart, but I’ll wait until we see results in games before I make any predictions.

Separately from this topic: now that we have a new on court assistant that is another guard by trade, who will lead the development of Woolf? Yes, he has natural athleticism. But, he is still a work in progress to deliver impactful 25” in the B1G.

Good to see you make it over this part of town.

My article posted first on this story and confirmed it was NIL motivated. I am not going to reveal my sources.

Rutgers is bringing in much higher level of players now. Fernandes and Griffiths are in a different class from Kiss and Miller.

I’m waiting to find out staff responsibilities but I could see TJ Thompson taking on the big men as part of his role.
