As important as showing progress on the field was on Saturday, it was a big recruiting weekend as well. Rutgers hosted many top recruits from the class of 2024 for the annual Scarlet-White Game. Todderick Hunt of NJ Advance Media reported a full list of expected recruits on campus. As spring camp comes to an end, head coach Greg Schiano and the staff hope to make a big impression on many highly ranked prospects that are visiting.

An encouraging sign is the number of high quality, out of state prospects that Rutgers has visiting on Saturday.

Jamari Howard, a Michigan State commit, was a notable visitor flying in from Hialeah, Florida. The 4-star cornerback was offered by over a dozen power five schools. They included Georgia, Alabama, Penn State, Florida, Florida State, Miami and of course, Rutgers. Getting him on campus is an intriguing development.

One frequent visitor of the program is 4-star receiver Josiah Brown. The No. 1 recruit in New York holds offers from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan State, Miami, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and of course, Rutgers. The 6’0″, 170 pound prospect from Hicksville, New York is a priority target for Schiano. He’s visited several times already and getting him back on campus for the spring game is significant.

Another New York 4-star recruit visiting is tight end Kory Duff. He was a high school teammate of current Scarlet Knight Ian Strong.

A pair of 4-star cornerbacks from Florida werte visiting in Cai Bates and Josh Philostin. The 6’2″, 180 pound Bates has over two dozen power five offers that include Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, Florida State, Penn State, Maryland, Kentucky, and Colorado among others in addition to Rutgers. The 5’11”, 170 pound Philostin is from West Palm Beach and per Hunt had flight issues. He was the lone recruit who did not make it, which is a strong statement. Philostin is obviously interested and holds offers from Arkansas, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miami and many others including Rutgers.

Ohio has been a state that Rutgers has recruited since Schiano returned and they’ll host 4-star defensive back Koy Beasley. The Cincinnati native was offered by RU this month. He also has offers from Georgia, USC, Kentucky and several Big Then schools including Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue.

4-star offensive lineman Kevin Heywood is from Royersford, Pennsylvania and considered a Penn State lean. Still a positive for Rutgers to get him on campus. He also holds offers from Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M and many others.
On the other side of the trenches, 4-star defensive lineman D.D. Holmes from Washington, D.C. is also visiting. The 6’6″, 240 pounder holds offers from Texas, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina as well as Big Ten schools Michigan, Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota, Indiana and Rutgers.
In regard to notable New Jersey recruits, visitors from the current class of 2024 commits included AJ Surace (QB), Kenny Jones (OL) and Judah Pruitt (OL).
In addition, Jaylen McClain, a 4-star safety from Seton Hall Prep who holds offers from a bunch of Big Ten schools including Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State was there.

4-star defensive back Jahmir Joseph from St. Joseph Regional in the 2025 class attended. He holds offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame and Rutgers.

Rutgers hosted over 100 recruits including many quality 3-star prospects needed to move the program forward. In addition, the entire Washington Township high school program came in support of Scarlet Knight John Stone. He made a positive impression on the offensive line during the Scarlet-White Game.

As important as taking steps forward as a team is this summer, continuing to build a strong 2024 recruiting class is equally so. It was an encouraging sign that Schiano and the staff were able to get such a high volume and high quality number of recruits on campus. The spring ended on a high note both on the field and off it. Hopefully the positive momentum generated only builds through the summer and fall.

Good to see that GS is able to get them on campus so hopefully he can close on a few. RU was the only B1G school with just one player drafted this weekend, and that was in the 6th round. Nebraska had two and everyone else had at least three.
