Sincere Robinson and Chloe Timberg, both sophomores for Rutgers, are competing at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships this week in Austin, Texas. The pair qualified for nationals following their performances at the East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida last month. Robinson will compete Wednesday in the long jump while Chloe Timberg will compete in the pole vault on Thursday.
Robinson qualified after placing ninth with a jump of 7.55m (24′ 9.25″) to earn his first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He became the program record holder in April with a jump of 7.93m (26′ 0.25″) at the Rutgers relays. Robinson finished second at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships earlier this month winning a silver medal.
This will be his third nationals appearance overall after qualifying for both the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships. Robinson won the Big Ten Indoor title and earned Second Team All-American honors this past winter. That experience could help him on Wednesday. The event takes place at 8:00 p.m. streaming live on ESPN+.
Timberg qualified for nationals after tying for the top mark of 4.22m (13′ 10″) in the pole vault. She will be making her second appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after earning a trip as a true freshman last year. She made Second Team All-American at the 2022 nationals but didn’t have her best performance. I think she is primed for a strong performance in her return trip on Thursday.
Timberg is a two-time Big Ten Outdoor champion after repeating earlier this month. She also won the Big Ten Indoor title earlier this year. In addition to being the Rutgers record holder in the pole vault in both Indoor and Outdoor, she also holds the Big Ten Outdoor record as well. She will compete on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. streaming live on ESPN+.
Rutgers has qualified at least one competitor from both the men’s and women’s teams in back to back years. You can watch the full slate of events on Wednesday and Thursday night on ESPN2. For a complete schedule of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships, click here.

Nice to see Rutgers represented in the NCAAs. It’s always a positive to hear a Rutgers program mentioned in championship competition. Hope both are able to compete at their best.
