A day after 3-star offensive lineman Raynor Andrews committed to Rutgers his teammates, twins Tycoolhill and Tyclean Luman, also pledged to the program. All three prospects now play for Norland high school in Miami, Florida.

The Luman twins are edge rushers that both measure at 6’3β€³ and 239 pounds. They’re from Montreal, Canada but played their sophomore and junior seasons in Florida. In 2021, they played for Miami International Academy and then at Miami Jackson for the 2022 season. They have since transferred to Norland high school for the 2023 season.

Both Tycoolhill and Tyclean hold close to 20 offers including Auburn, Florida State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Syracuse, West Virginia, Indiana, Minnesota, and Louisville among others. Rutgers offered he brothers in June 2022 and they first visited in October. Ultimately, the twins made the decision to commit during their official visits this past weekend. Per Brian Dohn of 247 Sports, they had visits lined up for Louisville and Pitt for later this month but have cancelled them since committing to Rutgers.

The brothers are known for playing very hard and being relentless in their attack of the opposing quarterback.Β  They have great size and have had major success playing in the talent hotbed of South Florida. Both could develop into significant contributors for the Rutgers defense in multiple positions along the defensive line.

They each registered double digit sack totals in both their sophomore and junior season.Β In 2021, Tyclean had 50 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. Tycoolhill had 53 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 13 sacks along with three forced fumbles. Per Hudl on their 2022 season highlights, Tyclean had 63 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and 1 INT in his junior season. Tycoolhill had 58 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks during his junior season.

Rutgers now has 11 commits in the class of 2024. Per 247 Sports composite rankings, the class is ranked No. 22 nationally and No. 7 in the Big Ten. The Luman brothers join 3-star linebacker Sam Pilof as the only members of the class on the defensive side of the ball. It was a busy weekend for Rutgers football in hosting over 20 official visitors. It’s possible the program will add more commitments in the next day or two now that the weekend is over. Another round of official visits is set for next weekend as well.

You can watch highlights for both Luman brothers below.

You can never, never have enough pass rushers. Now, let’s see a few guys who can push the pocket from the interior. Go RU!

Bringing my grandson to the Rutgers Big Man Camp end of June started HS Varsity as a freshman and sophomore as D-Tackle; as a Soph 6’2β€³ 290, lb doing his lifting and still growing. Got to get him to do more sprinting. Will see how he β€˜looks’ compared to others there.
