Podcast: Rutgers football recruiting & hoops transfer portal watch

Welcome to episode No. 66 of The Scarlet Faithful podcast. Today’s episode covers the positive weekend for Rutgers football recruiting as well as a few other updates.

High 3-star wide receiver Isaiah Crumpler committed over the weekend out of Greenville, North Carolina. He is a speedy, sure handed receiver with burst and ability to accelerate in open space. Assistant coach Dave Brock has plenty of experience in unlocking a players potential. Crumpler has the skills to succeed at the next level and gives Rutgers some much needed speed in the passing game.

In addition, high 3-star prospect Caden Brown included Rutgers in his final four schools. Brown is a 6-3, 250-pounder who plays for Erasmus Hall, a school with strong ties to Rutgers. He holds double digit power five offers including Nebraska, West Virginia, Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Pitt. His father, Alban Brown, played linebacker at Syracuse in late 1980s and offered. However, the No. 2 player ranked in New York state is only considering Big Ten teams with Penn State, Maryland, Michigan State and Rutgers. He has an official visit scheduled to Piscataway for June 9.

National recruit Kaj Sanders from Bergen Catholic also named Rutgers a finalist this weekend as well.

Also on this episode, updates on Rutgers baseball and softball. Chris Brito broke the program’s home run record as RU swept Penn State to move into third place in the Big Ten standings. Softball earned its first ranked win in 11 years in beating Northwestern on Saturday. They face Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament this week.

A quick recap on both men’s and women’s lacrosse having their seasons now complete is included.

Lastly, a discussion on the transfer portal deadline for college basketball and what to watch for this week in regards to roster rumors.
